All My “Neglected” Aquariums (+ Short Life Update)

Betta fish are known for being solitary fish because of how aggressive they are, but in certain cases, they can be kept with other fish in a community tank. Your rate of success will depend on your betta’s personality, providing a much bigger tank size than usual, and having the right tank mates. So, here’s my review of 10 tank mates that I’ve actually tried with my bettas and which ones actual...

Thanks for such a great video! Only one thing...In your video you said to use 2-3 teaspoons of salt per quart of water but your abbreviation was for Tablespoons. Tbs is Tablespoon and tsp is for teaspoon. Cheers

Another tip for helping bettas to eat - try SOAKING the pellets in a little bit of their tank water. Doesn’t need to fall apart, just get them a bit soggy :p my fish in the past have always eaten better that way! If your fish is smart enough to let it soak in their tank before eating, even better lol but mine was always ready to eat when I came over with their food ♥️ However, like you said, it can make their tank a bit messy, especially if you feed a large amount at once. Remember they’re tiny lil guys, they won’t eat more than a few pellets per feeding ♥️

I also liked spoiling my Bettas with little treats- you can buy frozen feeder creatures from most pet stores! I still have a tray of frozen blood worms in my freezer :p they LOVE them and it’s a great nutritional snack for them compared to pellets! ♥️

Heh. I bought some guppies to occupy the top layer but they're just in everyone's faces at every level regardless. They're so cute! My cories (Venezuelan) also like to play around at mid-level when they get a burst of energy. They also do a greeting dance at mid-level when I come into the room in the morning. I don't even feed them then, I do other chores, then come back 30m later. The cories are just the cutest, friendliest bunch!

uh.. i put plants, water, sculpter's soil and bacteria starter kit into my tank with a big filter and strong pump. dropped in a tiny bit of fishfood, monitored water for 2 weeks. then put 15 fish and 5 shrimps in. had a tiny spike, not from the fish but from a compromised in vitro plant. regular small water changes fixed that.

i also did fish-in cycling with my last round of tanks (3 10gals), and fluval tank starter. tbh i didn't do measurements/testing like i probably should have. i just did frequent water changes, knowing the bacteria needed time to grow and establish and that i needed to keep ammonia down. had those tanks running 2 years now. so, just saying it is possible though arguably a little more work because of water changes. but i thought it was worth it.

I have a male/2 female Dwarf Gourami in with glowlight tetras and panda cats. Yeah the male likes to throw his weight around but he seems to like the panda Cory's, the female dwarfs genuinely love them, follow them around as they graze and try to cuddle up with them. And yeah Gouramis go everywhere and have even seemingly learned to graze a tiny bit from the corys. Also they love floating plants, the male loves to just swim slowly through the roots and feel them on his face

There is a big difference between living water and dead water, You wont be aware of this until you look at your water under a microscope! The essential bio chemical and biological constituents aren't only conditions that should exist in your filter, they should also be suspended in the water itself! Therefore a period of extended light exposure during the development stage is beneficial to boost all biological processes necessary for the overall health and longevity of your micro biome....1 Try this,,,, If hair algae appears your lucky,,,, remove the majority of it, let it dry out completely role it up into a pellet and drop it back in....! its a food source that contains vital nutrients your fish may even eat it in this state and its good for them. The clue is in the variables as in the natural environment water levels fluctuate exposing hair algae long enough to dry out only to be re submerged this occurs periodically and seasonally....
